LADWP Presentation – Power Outages
At the recent HWPOA Annual Meeting, guest speakers from LADWP gave a Power Point presentation and discussed power outage issues in Holmby Westwood.  They explained that power outages are caused by severe rain, failing underground cables and fallen street trees.  Solutions to mitigate power interruptions include replacement of older cables, prioritized based on failure and age, as well as system growth work to expand capacity of circuits.

To report a power outage, customers should call 1-800-DIAL-DWP.

Power Outages in Holmby Westwood

New Website Launched to Track Priority Pole Repairs
LADWP recently launched an interactive map to track the ongoing repair work to power poles, cross-arms, and other overhead electrical equipment identified through its inspection program.

The map can be accessed at ladwp.com/PriorityRepairs and is updated daily to show the locations of poles remaining to be repaired. It can be accessed from the ladwp.com homepage as well.

Crews are currently working as quickly as possible and are committed to the completion of its “Priority 1” repairs by May 16, 2023.

5.  FREE PIANO CONCERT AT WESTWOOD LIBRARY

Join us THIS SATURDAY, May 13, at 3:30 p.m. for the next concert in our free, informal, monthly concert series at Westwood Library called “SECOND SATURDAYS.”  The duo of LEVY & LIM features violinist Phillip Levy and pianist Tae Yeon Lim with a program of popular, lighter classics for violin and piano, including works by Beethoven, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky and Kreisler.

The new Second Saturdays series is in addition to our signature Sunday concerts at the library. Unlike the Sunday concerts, which take over the entire library while it’s closed, the Second Saturday concerts are much more informal — they take place upstairs in the alcove by the balcony while the library is open for regular business. Starting at 3:30 p.m., concerts last approximately an hour and a half. Free parking in the library garage.

This is a great opportunity to introduce your kids to live classical music and musicians in the casual, safe, familiar setting of our local library.
