1.  HWPOA ANNUAL MEETING – NEXT TUESDAY

HWPOA Annual Membership Meeting

IN-PERSON at Belmont Village Westwood

For the first time in several years, the Annual HWPOA membership meeting will be held in-person.  The meeting is scheduled for 7:15 PM on Tuesday, May 9 at Belmont Village.

We will have several guest speakers and presentations, including:

  • LAPD Senior Lead Officer James Allen
  • LADWP Presentation – “What causes power outages and what is being done to prevent them in Holmby Westwood?”
  • Scott Tennent, Chief Communications Officer, Hammer Museum

LA Vector Control is sounding the alarm – they expect we’ll have a bumper crop of mosquitos as temperatures heat up due to our recent heavy rains, and they warn that breeding rates have already increased.

4.  EVENTS & PREMIERES IN WESTWOOD – STREET CLOSURES

There are several events and red carpet premieres coming up in Westwood Village, which will involve various sidewalk and street closures around the area of Broxton Avenue between Weyburn Avenue and Le Conte Avenue:

“The Mother” – Wednesday, May 10, 2023
NETFLIX will be holding the premiere of “THE MOTHER” at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 10, at the Regency Village Theater.

Backstage at the Geffen Playhouse – Saturday, May 20, 2023
The Backstage at the Geffen raises significant funds to support the Geffen’s ongoing commitment to bringing the power and inspiration of the arts to youth and adults in communities throughout Los Angeles. This annual celebration is a vital fundraiser for the theater’s education, community engagement, and artistic initiatives.  Street closure on Le Conte starting on Friday, May 19 at 8:00 pm through Sunday, May 21, 2:00 pm.
