2. WARNER HALLOWEEN HAUNT – STREET CLOSURE

Halloween Haunt
Sunday, October 29
11:00 am-4:00 pm
We invite the entire community to come join in the fun of our annual Halloween Haunt! Tickets and wristbands will be available at the event. There will be carnival games, bounce houses, food trucks, a petting zoo, and more!
Street Closure
Warner Avenue will be closed from Loring to Woodruff from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 29. Please be sure to move all cars off the road before 8:00 am. We appreciate all the community support!
3. HALLOWEEN SAFETY
In order to assist the Los Angeles community in enjoying this fun-filled holiday as safely as possible, the Los Angeles Police Department has compiled a list of Halloween safety tips for children and their parents.
To keep all trick-or-treaters safe, please read and take heed of these important safety tips:
PET SAFETY
Don’t forget about the four-legged members of the family on Halloween. Pets can be confused and spooked by strange sounds and sights, and unfamiliar people in costumes, so keep pets indoors and away from the front door. As always, make sure your pets also have up-to-date identification.

4. UCLA RANKED BEST HOSPITAL IN CALIFORNIA
From the Westwood-Century City Patch and Newsweek:
The best hospital in California is UCLA Health-Ronald Reagan Medical Center, but 39 others are ranked in Newsweek’s first-ever ranking of America’s Best In-State Hospitals, more than any other state.
The results are based on four data sources, including surveys by Newsweek’s data partner, Statista, of doctors, hospital administrators and other healthcare professionals, as well as patients, and Medicare and Medicaid data.
The final scores were weighted on peer recommendations (32.5 percent in-state and 7.5 percent out-of-state), patient experience (17.5 percent), hospital quality metrics (40 percent) and implementation of standardized Patient-Reported Outcome Measures, or PROMs (2.5 percent).
Los Angeles area hospitals on the list include:

5. UCLA S.A.F.E. CENTER – UPCOMING CLOSURES
LA Sanitation (LASAN) has established programs for Los Angeles City and L.A. County residents to safely dispose of their household hazardous waste (HHW) and electronic waste (E-waste). Items accepted can be found HERE.
Please note that the center at UCLA will be closed for several days next month in observance of Veterans’ Day and Thanksgiving.

UCLA’s Exploring Your Universe is a K-12+ science festival with hands-on exhibits, experts, and activities for everybody!

Join us for over 50 interactive science booths, science talks, “Ask a Scientist” Q&A panels, a planetarium, nighttime telescopes, as well as an award ceremony presenting a special guest with the Science and Education Pioneer Award. All activities are held by real scientists and organized by UCLA volunteers.
Admission is free but registration is required.
