1.  HOLIDAY PACKAGE SAFETY

What comes after Black Friday and Cyber Monday? “Package Theft Wednesday”, the biggest day of the year for package thieves.  With the holiday season there are more packages and thieves who want to take advantage of the ripe pickings.

It is never safe to leave packages by your front door. Please have packages delivered with “signature required” or have them delivered to another location (such as a business office) where it can be handed to a person directly.  We also suggest following these simple tips…

DO

  • Check your email alerts to know when packages have arrived.
  • Bring packages into the house as soon as possible.
  • If no one is around to receive packages, have them delivered to a safer location, like a workplace or a Smart Locker.
  • Check delivery dates to make sure packages don’t arrive when you’re away. If this can’t be avoided, have a friend or neighbor hold them for you.

DON’T

  • Leave packages out all day or overnight.
  • Leave outgoing mail in your mailbox, especially any bills with checks.
  • Thieves are getting more creative and some will arrive at your door with a food delivery bag, leaving with your belongings when they see no one is home. Be on the lookout for suspicious activity.

2.  LOS ANGELES ELECTION RESULTS

The results of the recent election have finally been tallied.  We would like to congratulate our newly elected representatives – we look forward to working with you!

  • Karen Bass – L.A. Mayor
  • Katy Young Yaroslavsky – City Councilmember, 5th District
  • Lindsey Horvath – County Supervisor, District 3
  • Kenneth Mejia – City Controller
  • Hydee Feldstein Soto – City Attorney

3.  LADWP NEWS – THANKS FOR SAVING WATER

Thanks for Saving Water, L.A.!

Thanks, LA, and congratulations for achieving record-setting levels of water conservation over the summer this year. For the past several months, Angelenos collectively saved nearly 6 billion gallons of water compared to last year!

So, as we head further into Fall, let’s keep it up and consider these water-saving tips:

  • Plan ahead by defrosting frozen foods in the refrigerator instead of running hot water
  • Rinse fruits and vegetables in a bowl of water instead of running the water
  • Run your dishwasher with a full load

And remember, LADWP also offers water conservation rebates and programs to help you cut back on water use. The programs include:

Free showerheads and faucet aerators

  • $5 per square foot rebate for turf replacement
  • $500 for high-efficiency clothes washers
  • $250 for high-efficiency toilets

Let’s keep it going!

4.  CALIFORNIA STIMULUS CHECKS

7.  FRONTIER FIOS IN WESTWOOD

From a homeowner:

Frontier has solicited its new Fios internet in our area for the last month or two.  I’m curious if anybody has switched and their assessments.

A faster internet speed is desirable, but you want to be assured that there are no issues with Frontier.

If you have any comments about Frontier Fios, please send them to harold.bronson@verizon.net.  Thank you.
