1.  LAPD CRIME REPORT & HOME BURGLARY PREVENTION

We received a report that earlier this week, a home on Loring was burglarized while the residents were out for dinner.  The suspects crouched down to avoid the Ring doorbell cameras and the alarm system was not armed.

Home Burglary Prevention Tips
The tip list below is provided by the LAPD and includes helpful reminders of ways to prevent home burglaries.  Stay safe!

Promotion/Swearing-In Ceremony for Capt. Jonathan Tom

Check in time 7:00am. If you plan on taking your own vehicle  “They do have some parking available at motor transport division which is located on main, between 2nd and 3rd streets on the east side. 2.  UCLA FACULTY CLUB – NOW OPEN FOR DINNER

The UCLA Faculty Club just re-opened for dinner last week.   Members of the community have reported that the food is excellent, served in a very nice setting and a pleasant atmosphere.

Menus – UCLA Faculty Club

The UCLA Faculty Club provides members with a home away from home on campus — a quiet, attractive haven in the heart of UCLA’s huge, bustling campus. It is a place where members eat, meet, and celebrate. Offering a variety of rooms and settings, the Faculty Club is suited for members’ needs, whether for reflecting, entertaining, meeting, networking, or conferencing.

Better than ever: The UCLA Faculty Club reopened after renovations, preserving what Bruins have cherished.  Renovations include a new roof, landscaping, new paint, and two new accessible restrooms.

Interested in joining? Membership is open to UCLA faculty and staff, visiting faculty and researchers, UCLA emeriti and retirees, UCLA alumni, parents of UCLA students and alumni, and members of the community.

4.  UCLA “BEAT ‘SC” RALLY

From the UCLA Office of Community and Local Government Relations:

Dear Neighbors,

As we approach the end of the UCLA Football season, we are excited to inform you about this year’s Beat ‘SC Rally. This annual tradition will take place on Wednesday, November 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Wilson Plaza. Please join students, alumni, faculty, and friends in this Bruin tradition as we get ready to take on our crosstown rival. Due to the current drought we are facing, UCLA has decided to replace this year’s bonfire with a light show.

While we look forward to the energy that will surround the campus, we are also taking the necessary steps to prevent any disturbances in consideration of our neighbors.  Below are details for the Rally:

BEAT ‘SC RALLY:
Wednesday, November 16, 2022

Wilson Plaza

6:00 p.m. – Tailgate at Wilson Plaza (music, games and activities)

7:00 p.m. – Rally begins: Will include student performances, the UCLA Spirit Squad and Marching Band, and Coach Kelly and the UCLA Football Team. The event will conclude with a dance party and light show.

We hope to see you at the event!

10.  RESIDENT ADS

SEEKING HOUSEKEEPER
We need a maid to work one day every two weeks for a household of two people; someone who will work 9:00-4:00.  We’ve tried several people who “work until it’s done”, which amounts to 5 hours, and have not had a good result. Thank you for your suggestions.
