1.  BACK TO SCHOOL SAFETY

Next week, LAUSD opens the 2022-23 school year with in-person instruction, including Warner Avenue Elementary.  Welcome Back!

Please be careful when driving around the neighborhood at drop-off and pick-up times, and if you are a parent of a student, please observe all safety regulations when dropping off or picking up your children. Let’s keep the neighborhood safe!

2.  U.S. OPEN IS COMING TO L.A. NEXT JUNE

Last week, I was fortunate to have met with the USGA Championship Director of the U.S. Open, Charlie Howe, Michael Beam, GM/COO of LACC, and Ashley Chedwick, U.S. Open Director for LACC. Because this championship will attract an expected attendance of 22,000 with activities spanning the same dates of graduation weekend at UCLA, I was interested in knowing plans for the Westwood area, specifically Holmby Westwood.

The 123rd U.S. Open will take place at The Los Angeles Country Club next June beginning Mon., June 12th and continuing through Sun., June 18th. (LACC is on Wilshire between Beverly Hills and Comstock. There are two 18-hole golf courses spanning both sides of Wilshire Blvd.

The meeting was extremely helpful in understanding parking, transportation, and security needs of both the U.S. Open and the surrounding residential community.  A summary of the meeting can be found here:

U.S. Open – Meeting Summary

For ticket information, to know when tickets go on sale or receive relevant ticket updates, go to https://www.usopen.com/2023-tickets-updates.html

More than 3,500 volunteers will be needed to help in conducting the championship. They are an integral part of the U.S. Open Championship experience. To register to volunteer or for more information, visit: www.usga.org/2023usopenvolunteers.

The USGA is collecting information from nearby homeowners who are interested in potentially renting their home to a player during the week of the championship. While the majority of the 156 players stay in hotels, there are some that consider renting. The length of rental is typically 7-10 days. If you would like more information, email 2023usopen@usga.org

SLIDING GLASS DOOR SAFETY
The LAPD has reported to us that the West LA area has had an increase in residential burglaries the past week. We have seen a trend in suspects prying open patio sliders and entering. If you have a sliding glass door try and place a wood dowel or stick that prevent the door from sliding open.

8.  RESIDENT ADS

WONDERFUL CAREGIVER SEEKING WORK
My mom sadly passed away a few weeks ago. She had the most wonderful caregiver imaginable – loving, warm, smart, understanding, hardworking, reliable, creative, patient. I can’t say enough good things about her. I would like to her to find a job in the area with another family who will treat her well.  She capably handles all her patient’s needs, including administering medications; doctors‘ visits; personal grooming; appropriate exercise and other activities; cooking; driving; light cleaning. She wants to work full-time and can live in or out.

Best to reach her through email at:

SEEKING EXCELLENT GARDENER
Looking for gardener who speaks English and who knows how to care for succulents/drought resistant plants ( and does more than mow and blow)

Thanks,
Jerome
