1.  VACCINE ROLLOUT CONFUSION

There has been much confusion and mixed messaging regarding the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine in Los Angeles.  Earlier this week, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that California would open up eligibility for a coronavirus vaccine to anyone 65 or older.

However, Los Angeles County officials have said that vaccine doses would continue to be available only to health care workers, regardless of the governor’s announcement.

Los Angeles County will not begin vaccinating people age 65 and older until they complete vaccinations for healthcare workers and receive more vaccine from the state for this new priority group.  In Los Angeles, people age 65 or older can expect that the vaccine will likely be made available to them in February.

2.  COVID NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

CA NOTIFY – Add your phone to California’s exposure notification system to get COVID-19 exposure alerts and to protect those around you.

Once you activate CA Notify, it does all the work. All you do is keep your Bluetooth on. You will only receive alerts if you were in close contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19. Your privacy is protected as your identity is not known and your location is not tracked.

CA Notify does not gather:

  • Your name
  • Your contact information
  • Your location or movements
  • The identity of the people you meet

CA Notify is an added layer of protection for you and your community. In addition to wearing a face covering, physically distancing, and washing your hands, adding your phone will help to keep you and others safe.

3.  PLEASE KEEP DOGS ON LEASH

A homeowner reported that, while walking her dog, she noticed another dog owner walking with her dog off-leash.  When asked to please put her dog on leash, the woman became belligerent and refused.

For the safety of your neighbors, children and other dogs, please keep your dog on a leash at all times when you are outside of your home. Even if you believe that your dog is harmless, it is important to follow the law and keep your dog on a leash.  Thank you for your cooperation.
