4.  GUIDE TO L.A. AREA HELICOPTERS

Thanks to Westwood Hills Property Owners Assoc. for the following information:

Most of us from time to time are aware of helicopters flying overhead, sometimes quite noisy and sometimes dangerously low.  The link below provides a fairly complete guide to local helicopters.

In addition to providing excellent photographs of the helicopters used by various providers (fire, police, media, sightseeing tours), it also provides a helpful, although not exhaustive, guide to their flight behaviors (circling, hovering, etc.).

5.  WESTWOOD VILLAGE – SHOP & DINE LOCAL

During this time of adjustments in social events, work schedules, and travel, we encourage you to remember our many small businesses in Westwood Village and to continue supporting them even if you cannot visit them physically. Remember, when you shop and dine local, even remotely, you invest locally.

Small businesses in Westwood Village are still open for in-store shopping, curbside pickups, takeout, and delivery.

7.  UCLA EVENT – HOST A VIRTUAL DINNER PARTY

Dinners for 12 Strangers is a 50+ year UCLA tradition that has become a global phenomenon. Every year, on one of three nights, alumni, faculty and students come together to enjoy good food and great conversation. This past year, alumni hosted more than 500 dinners around the world involving more than 3,700 Bruins.

What happens to a 52-year tradition that unites Bruins for good food and great conversation when physical distancing is the current way of life? We adapt and create new ways to come together in community, virtually.

For three nights, worldwide, alumni, students, parents, faculty and fans of UCLA will kindle our Bruin innovation and spirit to laugh, reminisce, make new friends and remember that UCLA unites us and lifts us up.

Sign up here to host on Feb. 20, 21 or 27. For questions, contact dinners@alumni.ucla.edu.

8.  HWPOA COMMUNICATION AND AD POLICY

GROUP FOR PEOPLE WITH A CHRONIC LUNG CONDITION

I host a meeting every other month for people with bronchiectasis and chronic lung diseases other than TB or cancer.  It’s a very informal support and information group, free of charge, which has been ongoing for about 15 years. The meetings bring together people who all share a common health problem, so we can feel completely comfortable talking about our lung issues in a warm, supportive environment. Each of us has a history of diagnosis, treatment, and day-to-day experience that is very helpful for answering our questions and getting the benefit of people’s personal experience. Even with the best of doctors, this is an invaluable service.

We are affiliated with a national non-profit organization, NTM Info & Research (NTMir), formed on behalf of patients with pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease for the purpose of patient support, medical education, and research. The organization comprises patients, physicians and other medical practitioners, and researchers.

Our group is open to all and, due to the coronavirus, the next meeting will be on Zoom on January 11, at 1:30 p.m. Here is the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89345724005?pwd=dkU0cnJpNFFRY1N2VUxoVlJOMHBUQT09

Meeting ID: 893 4572 4005
Passcode: 673223

Please feel free to contact me for more information. I look forward to speaking with you and meeting you!
