1.  FACE COVERINGS

Angelenos are required to wear face coverings outside their homes. Visit Coronavirus.LACity.org/FaceCovering for more details, including exceptions for small children or those with disabilities.

PLEASE NOTE – Face coverings should be worn properly, which means from the bridge of your nose to under your chin.  See chart below for additional guidance.

2.  PARKS & REC. – WHAT’S OPEN

For the most up-to-date information from the Parks & Rec. Dept., please click here.

3.  SKATEBOARDERS TRESPASSING

A homeowner on Weyburn Ave. reported the following incident:

On Wednesday, May 13 at 6:30 two men cased our property, taking pictures and then one came up the side yard. I confronted him and he said he is looking for good skate boarding. I told him to leave and called the police. I filed a trespassing report. A police detective said that skate boarders are out and trespassing other people’s homes in our area. The silver midsize car they were driving had Texas license plates GSN 5438. If you see these approximately 30 yr old men, call Det. Davis 310-444-1522.

4.  HONORING 2020 GRADUATES

With so many graduation ceremonies and events canceled this year, HWPOA would like to honor and celebrate the 2020 graduates in our neighborhood.  If you have a graduate in your family (high school, middle school, college, elementary school, etc.) please let us know who they are.  We will recognize them in an upcoming edition of the Holmby News.

If you would like your graduate to be included, please send an email to hwpoa@aol.com with the following information (or as much of it as you would like to share):

  • Graduate’s name (or just first name if you wish)
  • One photo (jpeg) of the Graduate
  • School and grade level
  • What’s next – College/major, next school, etc.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, May 28.

5.  RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATIONS

Our neighbors in Westwood Hills have put together a list of restaurant recommendations for takeout and delivery.  Some of the recommendations are listed below.

If you would like to recommend a restaurant, please send your comments to hwpoa@aol.com.

  • Pomodoro Bistro on Westwood Bl. has long been a family favorite
  • The Nosh in Beverly Hills
  • Churros Calientes – really good, independent local restaurant
  • Tuscan Son (Santa Monica Blvd., across from the Mormon Temple). Their pasta is very good and they have a terrific bakery.
  • Clementine near Century City. Very good chicken pot pie and meatloaf.

6.  LADWP – PHONE SCAM ALERT

Scams continue to be on the rise. Don’t fall victim to these impostors. We have suspended disconnections for non-payment at this time and will NEVER call and threaten to shut-off your water and power service over the phone.

Stay alert!

7.  SURVEY – CITY COMMUNICATIONS

Dear Neighbors:

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us all how important information sharing is in our communities. It’s how we learn what services are available, who is providing them and, now, what parts of our economy and society are reopening. But communication is too often a one-way street.

I want to change that and hear from you about the information you receive from the government of the City of Los Angeles and what local issues spark your interest. Please take this brief survey and forward it to your friends: https://bit.ly/2XhKjIb.

Your responses will help improve the way we communicate with you.

Be well and stay safe!
