GRAFFITI TAGGING – PARKED CARS
There has been a rash of graffiti tagging across West LA as well as other areas of Los Angeles.  In the overnight hours, cars parked on the street have been spray painted and their tires slashed.  This is shaping up to be a multi-jurisdictional major crime spree across the Southland.

Yesterday, investigators from the LAPD Major Crimes Division arrested an individual in connection with the crimes, which included the spray painting of numerous vehicles and three schools in the Beverlywood,  Pico-Robertson, Brentwood, and Westwood Communities of Los Angeles.  Investigators were also able to connect the suspect to similar acts of vandalism in the Calabasas Community in Los Angeles County.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional suspect(s) have been identified at this time.

if your car was tagged this week, please file a report with LAPD:

  • File an online report – click here
  • File a report in person at the West Los Angeles Area Police Station, 1663 Butler Ave, LA 90025, (310) 444-0701.

LAPD Detective Bret Banachowski of the Major Crimes Division is investigating this rash of tagging. If you have any footage, photos, or other info, please contact him directly: Email: 35958@lapd.online; Tel: 213-486-7220 and 213-4986-7390

3.  HOLIDAY SAFETY

‘Tis the season to be…stealing!

Criminals are doing their last minute holiday shopping at your house.   Please be aware of the following and take appropriate precautions:

Men posing as utility service workers (DWP and Gas Co) ask to enter your home to replace or inspect equipment. This is NEVER legitimate. Please alert anyone at your home, including housekeepers, to never open the door to strangers.

Porch Pirates are still stealing packages from your home while you’re away. Think about having deliveries sent to work and have your porch cleared by neighbors if you’re not home. If you’re ordering now, and going on vacation, check the delivery dates and think about delaying shipment.

Phone scams are still rampant, especially toward seniors. Credit card companies investigating fraud will NEVER ask you for your card number or other identifying information. Believe it or not, we have recent reports of the, “Grandma, it’s your grandson,” scam where people are asked to wire money urgently to a child in need.

Trash Cans should be removed on pickup day and not left out an extra day. Those are sure indicators you’re not home — EVEN if you are, which can be even more dangerous.

4.  HOLIDAY TRASH COLLECTION

There will be no curbside trash or recycling collections on Christmas Day or New Years Day. For the upcoming holiday weeks from Wednesday – Friday, garbage and recycling collections will be postponed by one day.

If you have any questions, please call the LASAN Customer Care Center at 1-800-773-2489.
