1.  SECURITY UPDATE

Our HWPOA board members are keenly aware that our community has become a prime target for burglars. Recent burglaries have occurred on Warner Avenue, Malcolm, Lindbrook, Wyton, and Loring. At our next March 12th board meeting, all board members will be asked to start a WhatsApp group on both sides of their block. Neighbors looking out for neighbors has been very successful in other communities with which we communicate on a regular basis to assess what’s working and what’s not working to deter crime.

We encourage all HWPOA members to set up a WhatsApp on their block. Please ask your neighbors to join HWPOA so we can make security a priority community wide. If you see something, say something. If you see someone taking photos of homes on your street, take a photo of the person and text it to our Senior Lead Officer, James Allen; cell: 213-952-8396. These photos can help the police to identify burglars.

Due to the increased number of burglaries in our community,  SSA Security will be adding a second patrol car in Holmby Westwood for the next 120 days.

Look for other security tips in our weekly newsletter. Be safe.

3.  SEEKING NEW HWPOA BOARD MEMBERS

Join the Board of Directors of
Holmby Westwood Property Owners Association

The HWPOA Board is seeking Holmby Westwood residents to volunteer to serve as a Director for 1 year. We ask only that you be a financially current member of the Association for the past 2 years and have an interest in maintaining and improving the quality of life we have all come to know and enjoy.  The election of the Board of Directors will take place in April.

You will have an extremely worthwhile experience while giving back to our community.  HWPOA is a highly respected association throughout the city and, with your involvement, we hope that will continue indefinitely.

We usually meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM. Our meetings have been on Zoom in recent years but we may transition back to in-person meetings, which will be held at Belmont Village (on Wilshire at Warner Ave.).

We encourage all Board members to join one of our committees, which include: Security, Green Team, Westwood Village, Traffic, Holmby Park, Architectural Supervising Committee, 4th of July event, Filming (in the neighborhood), Membership, LAPD liaison and more.

UnCabaret
Thursday, March 14 at 8 pm

UnCabaret is a legendary forum for wildly fun, idiosyncratic, intimate, conversational comedy. Arguably the original “alt comedy” show – and a bona fide Los Angeles comedy institution – UnCabaret has long been an incubator and venue for what reads like a who’s who roster of innovative and subversive performers.

Join us on March 14 for the return of UnCabaret! Joined by musical director Mitch Kaplan with the band and an all female line-up of hilarious storytellers including Kira Soltanovich, Erin Foley, Laura Kightlinger and Jamie Bridgers.

Don’t miss their last performance at The Nimoy this season!
