On Tuesday, May 11 at 7:30 PM, the HWPOA Board of Directors will hold its monthly meeting.  Due to social distancing restrictions, the meeting will be a video-conference held online via Zoom.  Please click here to see the agenda.

Members of the community are welcome to join the Zoom call. Please let us know if you plan to attend and we will send you the link to access the video-conference.  Email Dana at hwpoa@aol.com.

2.  YELLOW TIER RE-OPENINGS

Earlier this week, Los Angeles County officially met the threshold for the least restrictive Yellow Tier in the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

A revised Los Angeles County Health Officer Order went into effect on Thursday, May 6, to reflect newly permitted activities. Moving into the yellow tier allows for increases in capacity in many sectors. All of these changes will still require safety modifications, including masking, distancing and infection control to reduce the risk of transmission.

5.  UN4LA – UNITED NEIGHBORHOODS FOR L.A.

UN4LA hopes to bring communities together to plan for a sustainable future. Growth in LA County must be shaped by community engagement, not developer dollars.

The LA area is facing a number of crises on different fronts. We need to make sure our elected officials are making decisions based on real data and hard facts, not aggressive lobbying and wishful thinking. Please take a moment to check out UN4LA’s upgraded web page.

7.  FOOD DONATIONS – COLLINS & KATZ  FAMILY YMCA

The Collins & Katz Family YMCA is now accepting donations of food which is distributed to neighbors in need on Thursdays. They welcome donations of food—the best items are non-perishable, and those that would be considered healthy supplements to produce. Rice, beans, pasta, canned vegetables and proteins all are good additions.

The best times to drop off are Thursdays between 8:00 am and 10:00 am in the parking structure at the YMCA, 1466 S Westgate Ave. (near University High School).  They are also conducting a monetary drive to support food distribution, as well as distance learning and other programs—more info at: www.ymcaLA.org/ckGive
