CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFTS FROM TOYOTA PRIUS’
The West Los Angeles area is experiencing an increase in Catalytic Converter thefts, particularly from Toyota Prius’.  Catalytic converters are targeted by thieves because they contain precious metals and removal of the catalytic converters can take less than 60 seconds.

If you own a Prius, do your best to park in a secure location rather than on the street or driveway.

2.  NEIGHBORHOOD TEAM PROGRAM

During a regional disaster, such as a moderate to major earthquake, the city services we rely on and expect will be unavailable.  The Fire Department will immediately be overwhelmed.  9-1-1 will ring busy, and hospitals will be filled beyond capacity.  Chances are your cell phone won’t work, your power will be out, and your land line will be down.

LAFD CERT is offering an online training session for the Neighborhood Team Program:

Neighborhood Team Program – Los Angeles
Tuesday, November 17th
7pm-9pm
Online event

Register:
https://lafdcertcentral-november2020.eventbrite.com

The Neighborhood Team Program (NTP) combines the best parts of the LA City Fire Department’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training Program, the LA City Emergency Management Department’s Ready Your LA Neighborhood (RYLAN), and Neighborhood Watch.

The goal of the Neighborhood Team Program is to help you and your neighbors build your Neighborhood Emergency Response Team with a turn-key package of short, easy to follow, but comprehensive step-by-step guides that guide you through the process of creating the team, recruiting your neighbors, setting up initial Map Your Neighborhood training, and the plans to follow right after a disaster.

Additionally, we’ll put you in touch with your CERT Coordinators to guide you through the process, and set up trainings and drills.

3.  HOLIDAY SHOPPING IN WESTWOOD

As the holiday season approaches, we encourage you to support local merchants in Westwood and surrounding neighborhoods.

It is so important to embrace and support what makes our community unique! Shopping local does that and so much more.

5.  LOS ANGELES POLICE FOUNDATION

Make Gratitude Your First Response
Support the Los Angeles Police Foundation

LAppreciates gives you a chance to share your feelings of goodwill and gratitude for those who make an extra effort to care for you, keep you safe, and see you through challenging situations.

Join this initiative from the Los Angeles Police Foundation (LAPF) to express your support for the Los Angeles Police Department.  Something as simple as a kind gesture or a few words of encouragement can make a life on the front lines of service even more rewarding and meaningful.  With each smile of greeting and nod of respect that we give and receive, the bonds between all of us in our great city become stronger.

Ways to show your support:

  • Send your cards of appreciation to your neighborhood LAPD station – They would love to hear from you!  Our local LAPD station is located at:

West LAPD
1663 Butler Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90025

  • Purchase items from the LA Police Foundation Online Store.  Items include T-shirts, badge keychains, face masks, SWAT caps and much more.  To purchase these and other items, please click here.

6.  EMERGENCY SUPPLIES – BOTTLED WATER

While everyone knows that it is important to maintain a supply of bottled water for major emergencies, many people do not keep enough water on hand.  For those needing a backup emergency supply of bottled water, Arrowhead Water will make one-time water deliveries even if you do not subscribe to their monthly service.
