3.  FIREWORKS UPDATE

Thank you to everyone who reported their experiences with fireworks in the neighborhood recently.  We received more than a half dozen responses and have forwarded all information to the LAPD so they can investigate.

If you have any additional information regarding fireworks being thrown from a car onto  the parkway or private property, please email hwpoa@aol.com.

4.  TAX FILING DEADLINE – JULY 15

Just a friendly reminder for those that still have not completed their tax filings:

Federal Taxes – The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service are providing special tax filing and payment relief to individuals and businesses in response to the COVID-19 Outbreak. The filing deadline for tax returns has been extended from April 15 to July 15, 2020. The IRS urges taxpayers who are owed a refund to file as quickly as possible. For those who can’t file by the July 15, 2020 deadline, the IRS reminds individual taxpayers that everyone is eligible to request an extension to file their return.

California State Taxes – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Franchise Tax Board (FTB) postponed filing and payment deadlines until July 15.

5.  WESTWOOD RESTAURANTS – DELIVERY & TAKE-OUT

Support your favorite local restaurants (and get a great meal) by ordering delivery or takeout!

6.  DOG OWNER ETIQUETTE

KEEP DOGS ON LEASH
For the safety of your neighbors, children and other dogs, please keep your dog on a leash at all times when you are outside of your home. Even if you believe that your dog is harmless, it is important to follow the law and keep your dog on a leash.  Thank you for your cooperation.

USPS – DOG BITE AWARENESS MONTH
USPS is asking the community to help them prevent their carriers from experiencing dog bites. Dog bites not only physically hurt postal workers and send many to the hospital ER  for treatment, but they also traumatize the carrier.

Because of this USPS has a Zero Tolerance Policy.  If your dog bites a carrier you will no longer get home delivery in perpetuity.  There are no exceptions.  So it’s important to be careful that there is no way your dogs could get to the carrier and to watch for children who might inadvertently leave the front door open and let the dog out when the carrier is in the neighborhood.
