3.  METRO UPDATE – SEPULVEDA TRANSIT CORRIDOR PROJECT

Metro thanks everyone who participated in the Sepulveda Transit Corridor Project public meetings in Summer 2019.

Click here for a recap of the community meetings.

Next Steps

  • The feasibility study is currently wrapping up and is expected to be received by the Metro Planning & Programming Committee at its November 20, 2019 meeting and received by the Metro Board at its December 5, 2019 meeting.
  • Metro will begin the process of selecting a consultant to prepare the environmental impact statement/environmental impact report (EIS/EIR). This consultant is expected to be selected by June/July 2020.
  • At the same time, Metro will be moving forward with the Pre-Development Agreement (PDA) process, through which up to two private partners will be selected by June/July 2020 to work with Metro throughout the environmental analysis phase to develop and analyze project alternatives.

In order to allow the Board to consider the full range of alternatives that may enter into the environmental process, from both the feasibility study and the PDA procurement, Metro will wait to seek Board selection of alternatives for this project until June/July 2020.

We appreciate your interest in this project and we will continue to keep you updated as we move through these important steps in the process. Stakeholder feedback is important and will continue to be collected throughout the fall. You may submit comments to the project email address – sepulvedatransit@metro.net or online comment form.

CONGRESSMAN LIEU’S CONVERATIONS WITH VETERANS

Dear Friend,

I would like to invite you to attend “Conversations With Veterans” my annual Veteran Appreciation event to listen to veterans tell the community their experiences about serving their country in peace time and in war.  The event is on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the Rose Garden, which is on the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Campus.

This unique event is a community forum that aims to establish a greater understanding between local veterans and the friends and neighbors for whom they fought and served. In the tradition of warrior storytelling, veterans are invited to describe the pride, grief, rage, or quiet appreciation of life that service in the Armed Forces bestowed upon them. The role of non-veterans will be to attend, to listen, and to learn.

A gathering like this town hall will allow members of our district to learn about the complexities of war and acquire a better appreciation for our veterans who served. Staff will be on hand to offer casework assistance to Veterans and other community members who need help with a Federal agency.

I would be grateful if you, your friends, and family would join me for this special event. To RSVP, please go to https://ca33vettalks.eventbrite.com

Sincerely,
Ted W. Lieu
Member of Congress
