1.  HWPOA’S 4th OF JULY PARADE & PICNIC

Save the date!  Summer is almost here and we are getting ready for:

HWPOA’s 4th of July Parade & Picnic!
Thursday, July 4th
10:00 am Parade start at Warner Avenue

The day will begin at Warner Ave. School, with a parade that leads to Holmby Park, where the festivities continue.

Food – Music – Bouncers – Arts & Crafts
and much more!

Decorate your scooters and wagons, your kids and grandkids, and your homes, especially if you’re along the Loring/ Comstock parade route!  Celebrate the holiday and the treasure of a neighborhood we live in together.  More details to follow in the coming weeks – stay tuned!

2.  WESTWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL ELECTION

The Westwood Neighborhood Council (WWNC) is the official group elected to advise the City Council on issues affecting the Westwood community, including our neighborhood of Holmby Westwood.  Mark you calendar to be sure to vote this Sunday, June 2, 2019, from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm:

5.  LAPD SURVEY

The Los Angeles Police Department wants to hear from you.  The City of Los Angeles has initiated an anonymous survey seeking input from communities about your experiences with LAPD, your attitudes toward service levels, and any opportunities for improvement.

This survey is designed to supplement meetings that are currently being held with neighborhood council alliances and community police advisory boards.  Please take the time to complete the questionnaire so that your feedback can be included in the study. The survey is anonymous, and individual responses will never be shared with LAPD, the City of Los Angeles, or anyone outside of the project team.  The responses will be tabulated and a summary of findings will be presented.

7.  DOCKLESS SCOOTER COMMUNITY MEETING

The Los Angeles Dept. of Transportation (LADOT) is hosting Dockless Community Meetings beginning at the end of this month. Learn about how the City is working with dockless bicycle and scooter providers. The date for the West LA meeting is as follows:

8.  MOVIE PREMIERES – STREET CLOSURES

There are several premieres coming up in Westwood, which will involve various sidewalk and street closures around the area of Broxton Avenue between Weyburn Avenue and Le Conte Avenue:

Westside Impact Project Community Meeting – Thursday, June 6 at 4:00 PM at UCLA Wooden Center.  As a Westwood resident, your input is valued at our upcoming community meeting. The mission of the Westside Impact Project is to mobilize and engage UCLA and Westwood communities to reduce alcohol-related harms using evidence-based strategies. We envision a community that actively works together to counter the preserved substance-driven college experience with initiatives that promote a healthier campus environment.

DTLA Donut Fest – Saturday, June 8, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Union Station (in downtown LA).  Attention fans of sugary fried rings of deliciousness! California’s largest donut festival returns to Union Station! Participants in DTLA Donut Fest include: Voodoo Doughnut, Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken, Dōnatsu, Dot & Dough, DK’s Donuts & Bakery, Fat Uncle Farms, Dream Donut Truck…and more!

For those who need a break from sugar, there will also be breakfast burritos, tacos and breakfast sandwiches available at The Rooster Truck.  The Donut Worry Be Happy activities area will feature baking demonstrations from celebrity baker Jane Soudah, along with donut-themed arts and crafts. And to help you calm down after the sugar high, try a Find Your Center yoga workshop hosted by Mockingbird Yoga.

1.  SUNSET BLVD. POWER UPGRADE PROJECT – LADWP

Beginning this summer (dates TBD), LADWP is planning a much-needed power infrastructure project in the Westwood and Bel Air area. The LADWP will be installing additional underground power lines to upgrade infrastructure and improve reliability for the Bel Air, Beverly Crest, Westwood, and Holmby Hills communities.  Four new underground circuits will be installed to relieve the overloaded circuits.

Construction will be in two different areas on Sunset Blvd:

• Sunset Blvd between the 405 freeway and Bellagio Rd
• Sunset Blvd between S. Beverly Glen Blvd and Carolwood Dr

During work, at least one lane will remain open in each direction to both eastbound and westbound traffic.

Construction Hours:

• Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm
• Saturday – 8:00 am – 6:00 pm

3.  LAPD CRIME REPORT

Senior Lead Officer Chris Ragsdale’s recent report to the Westwood Community Council:

• Westwood is a “target rich” environment.  In 2018, there were 189 crimes, the 4th highest in the 65 sq. mile area of West LA.
• 100 + were thefts that took place between noon and 6 pm.  The majority of those were in businesses, department stores and parking lots.  Most of the victims were “visitors” to Westwood.
• 10 of the 189 crimes were aggravated assaults, 10 were violent crimes.
• In 2019, so far, there have been 60 crimes, same time (noon to 6 pm) and in the same locations.

Warning – Postmates Delivery Scam
A homeowner on Comstock near Holmby Park reported the following incident.  Last Saturday, someone carrying a small bag knocked on her door claiming to be delivering food from Postmates.  The homeowner, who did not open the door, had not ordered food so the delivery person left.  It is possible that the delivery person was actually a “lookout”, and had no one answered the door, the delivery person may have assessed the home as a target and then attempted to break in.  This is a common operation among thieves so please take appropriate precautions.

6.  UCLA BOTANICAL GARDEN

UCLA Mildred E. Mathias Botanical Garden is a 7.5 acre garden, outdoor classroom, and research facility on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles, California. This living museum contains a diverse collection of plants from around the world. Come explore this urban oasis, free to the public daily.

Shakespeare in the Garden: Galatea
We are excited to welcome the UCLA Shakespeare Company to perform Galatea outdoors in the garden amphitheater this weekend on Saturday 5/25 and Sunday 5/26 at 2:30pm. These performances are free and tickets can be reserved here.

First Saturday Drop-in Tour
We offer a one hour guided tour of the Garden on the first Saturday of each month from 1-2pm. Visitors can meet at the La Kretz Garden Pavilion. You can reserve a spot here. For groups of 10+ people, please fill out this online form to reserve a private tour.

Volunteer Opportunities
This community green space is maintained by 5 gardeners and 40 volunteers! To become a volunteer gardener, check out our website and contact Joan Muench. Volunteer docents provide free educational tours to school groups and the public. There is a 7 week training to become a docent that will be offered in the Fall and Winter. UCLA Recreation Youth Programs offers a wide variety of summer camps for grades K–12.  Located at UCLA, the camps emphasize each child’s needs and personal development within a group setting. 1.  HWPOA ANNUAL MEETING

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to thank those who attended our 57th Annual meeting this past Tuesday.  Your Board of Directors was elected as presented and I would like to congratulate all the new board members!

Thanks also goes to our informative guest speakers:

• Councilmember Paul Koretz, who discussed a variety of local issues
• West LAPD Senior Lead Officer Chris Ragsdale, who gave an update on crime in the area
• The Holmby Westwood Green Team, who made a presentation about the parkway trees in Holmby Westwood
• Esther Magna of Save Hilgard Avenue, who explained issues related to the proposed Agora development

We had a full house; I apologize that we had to close it to only our membership, for the first time ever.  The following notice had been posted on Facebook prior to our meeting:

It will be held at Belmont Village 10475 Wilshire at 7:15 PM with parking below – take elevator to Ground level. Just look for one of us in the t-shirt.”

Our Annual meeting, as stated in our bylaws, is for our membership although, in years past, it has been open to anyone who wanted to attend.  We are guests at Belmont, but it is home to its many residents.  I did not want “outsiders” interrupting the councilman and, in turn, our meeting, or possibly disturbing Belmont residents.  Let’s hope that next year there are no issues that could cause disruption.  This is not usual behavior of our Westwood neighbors!

3.  HOUSING BILL UPDATE – SB 50

From Preserve LA:

VICTORY! SB 50 Has Been Shelved

Earlier this week, the Appropriations Committee killed SB 50. Together we did it!  An unprecedented and sweeping experiment, SB 50 would have targeted and destroyed single-family neighborhoods and apartments alike, with the state forcing cities to dramatically shift housing production to smaller rental units.

Sen. Portantino, chair of the Appropriations Committee, used his power to deep freeze this bill until 2020 when it will be up for debate again.

For now we can take a breath before we gear up for another fight.

4.  UCLA CENTENNIAL LIGHT SHOW

Dear Neighbors,

UCLA will be hosting the UCLA Centennial Celebration Year Launch on Saturday, May 18, 2019 on campus.  The launch will feature the Lighting the Way Projection Show onto Royce Hall in the evening.

Testing for the light and audio began earlier this week and on Friday there will be two test shows at 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

On Saturday for the official launch, the projection festivities will begin at 8:00 p.m. and there will be two shows, 9:00 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.

You are welcome to join the UCLA Community on Saturday night to take part in the viewing. This event is free and open to the public and no RSVP is required. Parking: Guests are encouraged to park in Lot 2 at self-service parking pay station locations. For a map of campus parking locations, including Lot 2, please click here.

On April 3, Adopt Fire Station #71 (Beverly Glen & Sunset) and the Bel-Air Garden Club celebrated the completion of the Landscape Beautification Project.  March Wisely did a fabulous job in designing both the front and rear of the building, even engineering a putting green for the firefighters enjoyment!  After perhaps, 50 years, it was time to replant and replenish!

We thank those residents who, over the years, have contributed to our station so that our Adopt program could provide for improvements and additional creature comforts for our most deserving first responders.

6.  PROPOSED SOCCER FIELD AT WESTWOOD PARK

The Westwood Park Advisory Board is considering a proposal to install a second gated soccer field, taking 2 existing tennis courts and additional park land.   The funds for the field have been donated by a family in memory of their son.

At a hearing before the Westwood Neighborhood Council earlier this month, many Westwood residents, both users and neighbors of Westwood Park, voiced their objections to the soccer field, citing parking issues, concerns regarding the use of synthetic grass and yet another gated use at this small park.

Another public meeting to discuss the proposal is scheduled for Thursday, May 23 at Westwood Park:

7.  ARTS INTERNSHIP FOR STUDENTS – APPLY NOW

The LA County Arts Internship Program supports and strengthens the cultural sector of LA County by providing access to high-quality opportunities for college students of all backgrounds to gain experience, understanding, and transferable skills relevant to careers in the arts, the creative economy, and engagement in public life. The Arts Commission provides grants to nonprofit performing, presenting, and literary organizations to host college students for 400 hours of paid work between June and August. The earliest that interns can start their 2019 internships is Saturday, June 1, and the latest is Monday, June 17. Internships end no later than Sunday, August 25.

In the summer of 2019, approximately 203 positions will be available for students throughout LA County. Students are encouraged to review the list of 2019 positions to get a sense of the range of available positions. Learn more about the program HERE.

3.  HOLMBY WESTWOOD GREEN TEAM – TREE SURVEY

The HWPOA Green Team is again working with the UCLA Geography Department to study Holmby Westwood’s valuable “urban forest.”  Over the next 4-5 weeks you may see students working in pairs throughout the neighborhood measuring the height and diameter of our street trees and photographing them.  The students are working on refining the Holmby Westwood Street Tree Inventory to give us more complete information on our trees—both the range of species in the neighborhood and an assessment of their condition.  Please welcome the students as they complete their work.

4.  HOUSING BILL UPDATE – SB 50

SB 50 is a bill that would allow developers to build four- to five-story residential projects near rail stations and major transit stops. If this bill passes, cities and counties would be forced to relax their zoning requirements and allow the construction of smaller apartment or townhouse projects in single family neighborhoods.

Many L.A. neighborhood groups have come out against the bill, arguing that it would shift planning decisions to Sacramento.  Last month, the L.A. City Council voted 12-0 to oppose SB 50.  In San Francisco, hometown of the bill’s author, the Board of Supervisors, after a thorough study of SB 50, voted 9-to-2 to oppose it.

Now, SB 50 is making its way through our state legislature.  The Senate Appropriations Committee will be voting on it on Monday, May 13th. SB 50 was amended last week such that a fourplex will be allowed on any R-1 lot with few exceptions.

A note from City Councilmember Paul Koretz:

As I pointed out in this recent LA Times article, if SB 50 passes, it will destroy single-family home neighborhoods in Southern California and will do nothing to address the need for more affordable housing.  SB 50 kills local planning rules, letting buildings tower over homes.  The towers can include NO parking, NO space for trees, NO setbacks, and NO design standards.  All that developers must do is include a few “affordable” rental units.

For the sake of the need for affordable housing and protecting Los Angeles single-family neighborhoods, please tell your State Legislature to Vote NO on SB 50.

At a hearing before the Westwood Neighborhood Council on Wednesday evening, many Westwood residents, both users and neighbors of Westwood Park, voiced their objections to the soccer field, citing parking issues and yet another gated use at this small park.  As you might recall, a dog park and the original gated soccer field have chipped away at the open space available to park users.  A suggestion was made to put this soccer field at Cheviot Park where there is much more open space.  The donor stated that would be acceptable.

Another objection was the artificial grass that would be used for the field as it is for the existing soccer field.  Many stated that this is a synthetic “fix” (plastic) and is not biodegradable.  Also, park-goers do not want to see 3 fenced-in uses but prefer to see open space where their children can run and play on the grass.

2.  PANCAKE BREAKFAST AT FIRE STATION #71

The below information comes from the West LA Auto Detective Supervisor.  Regarding reported thefts or burglaries from all West LA vehicles last week:

• 6 crimes were very difficult to prevent such as theft of parts (plates, wheels, catalytic converters, etc).
• The remaining 27 (82%) are opportunistic.  Items left visible, causing window smash and unlocked thefts.

So, this week’s Community Alert implores all of you to NOT leave any items of value in your parked vehicles.  Essentially, LOCK IT, HIDE IT, KEEP IT.  It may seem redundant–it has certainly become our battle-cry– but we can’t emphasize enough how even an empty bag, loose change, a jacket or a pair of sunglasses can win you a broken window and a theft or burglary from your vehicle.

4.  RACCOON ALERT

A homeowner on Malcolm recently reported that raccoons have been invading their yard.  Please be sure to remove all potential food sources for the raccoons and keep garbage tightly sealed.  Raccoons are omnivorous, and their appetite is often the main factor for the damage they cause.

Raccoons may also tear off shingles from the roof to gain access to the attic, or take refuge inside an uncapped chimney. Raccoons like to crawl under the eaves of a roof to gain entry to the attic.

2.  HOLMBY WESTWOOD GREEN TEAM – TREE SURVEY

The HWPOA Green Team is again working with the UCLA Geography Department to study Holmby Westwood’s valuable “urban forest.”  Over the next 4-5 weeks you may see students working in pairs throughout the neighborhood measuring the height and diameter of our street trees and photographing them.  The students are working on refining the Holmby Westwood Street Tree Inventory to give us more complete information on our trees—both the range of species in the neighborhood and an assessment of their condition.  Please welcome the students as they complete their work.

3.  SPEED BUMP APPLICATIONS

Get a Speed Bump on Your Street!

Applications open at 8:00 am Wednesday, May 1 to request a speed bump on your street. Only 30 requests are accepted per City Council District, so the process is highly competitive. SECURITY SUGGESTIONS
A homeowner recently suggested several security measures that might deter criminals from entering your property:

Cowbells on gates – Try attaching a cowbell on gates or fences that criminals might climb.  The clang of the cowbell will alert the homeowner and may scare away the criminal.  Cowbells may be purchased on Amazon.

Video warning signs – Amazon also sells signs that say “Smile, You’re on Camera”, which can be posted outside of your home.  Even if you don’t have video surveillance, the sign itself may be a deterrent to criminals who don’t want to be caught on camera.

5.  PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY

The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Come dispose of unused, unwanted or expired medication. Make some space in the medicine cabinet, help prevent misuse, and dispose of medication in an environmentally friendly way.

Photoville LA – Until Sunday, May 5 at the Annenberg Space for Photography in Century City.  Photoville — the largest annual photographic event in New York City — is heading to Los Angeles for the first time in its seven-year history! DAYTIME BURGLARIES
Last week, we reported a burglary that took place on Malcolm.  While the police report listed the incident at 10:00 PM, the homeowners wanted us to report that the burglary actually took place at 6:40 PM, when it was still light out.  The suspects left their home carrying a sack of the homeowners possessions.  Please be vigilant and report anything that looks suspicious, whether it is day or night.  Not all crimes are committed in the dark.

2.  UPCOMING HOLIDAYS – RELAXED PARKING

The City of LA has relaxed parking restrictions for the upcoming holidays of Passover, Easter and Shavuot.   Time limits and preferential parking restrictions will be relaxed on specific dates.  Meters, tow-away zones and other safety violations will still be enforced.

4.  PLASTIC STRAW RESTRICTIONS – NEW ORDINANCE

Plastic straws are only available by request in Los Angeles, beginning on Earth Day.

Plastic pollution is a big problem for our oceans and waterways.  Plastics do not break down in the environment, but instead break up into smaller pieces, which are ingested by marine life and poison, starve or suffocate them.

To reduce the harmful effects of plastic pollution, the City of Los Angeles has adopted a plastic Straws-on-Request Ordinance to encourage everyone to reduce their use of disposable plastic straws.

The Ordinance becomes effective on April 22, 2019, in honor of Earth Day.

5.  HOUSING BILL UPDATE – SB 50

From the L.A. Times:

For the second year in a row, the Los Angeles City Council has come out against a plan by a San Francisco-based state senator to lift restrictions on higher-density housing near rail stations, major bus routes and areas with high concentrations of jobs.

On a 12 to 0 vote Tuesday, council members authorized the city’s lobbyists to oppose Senate Bill 50 — authored by Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener— one of a handful of bills targeting the state’s housing crisis.

Councilman Paul Koretz, who represents part of the Westside, called the bill a “handout for developers” that would result in the destruction of historic districts and single-family neighborhoods.

SB 50 would allow developers to build four- to five-story residential projects near rail stations and major transit stops. In neighborhoods with frequent bus service, and areas designated as “job rich,” cities and counties would be forced to relax their zoning requirements and allow the construction of smaller apartment or townhouse projects.

L.A. neighborhood groups in locations such as Westwood, Sunland-Tujunga, Pacific Palisades and South Los Angeles have come out against the bill, with many arguing that it would shift planning decisions to Sacramento.

Documentary Screening: Ask Dr. Ruth – Monday, April 22, 7:30 PM at the Hammer Museum.  This documentary portrait chronicles the incredible life of Dr. Ruth Westheimer, a Holocaust survivor who became America’s most famous sex therapist. As her 90th birthday approaches, Dr. Ruth revisits her painful past and her career at the forefront of the sexual revolution. (2019, dir. LUNG GROUP MEETING

The next meeting of the Los Angeles area group for people with lung conditions such as bronchiectasis and mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) will be Monday, May 6, at 1:15 pm, at 641 Warner Avenue, in Westwood. No RSVP is necessary and there are no fees.

Our group meets about every two months to update each other on our conditions, treatments, meds, research, resources, experiences, and anything else that might be helpful or interesting to the group. It’s a wonderful resource as well as providing a support group of people who are going through similar symptoms and treatments.

People are also welcome to be on the email list to receive information about bronchiectasis, MAC, and NTM (non-tuberculous mycobacteria), as well as notes from meetings of two other groups (New York and Palm Springs) that are very informative. AHMANSON SEASON TICKETS

I am looking for someone to purchase one or both of my Ahmanson season tickets for 2019-2020. The tickets are for Saturday evenings, Series A2, Orchestra Row E, and are for seven plays at a cost of $749 per person for the season.  As of this evening the Ahmanson has not released the exact dates. As soon as they do I will notify the purchaser. The current deadline for season ticket renewal is April 19, however, in the past they have briefly extended the deadline.

POLICE ACTIVITY ON LINDBROOK – Wednesday Night 4/10
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was conducting a surveillance of suspected Burglary suspects believed to be committing crimes throughout the region to include the West Los Angeles Area.  After observing the suspects committing a Burglary of a residence in the 10500 block of Lindbrook Drive, the LASD surveillance units requested assistance from LAPD-West L.A. Area uniformed patrol officers and attempted to stop the suspects.  During the attempted stop, the suspect’s vehicle collided with a police vehicle while attempting to escape.

Following the collision, three suspects fled from the vehicle with two being taken into custody shortly after.  The third suspect was apprehended in the area a short time later following a perimeter search.  The suspects were charged with residential burglary along with additional supplemental enhancements and charges.

6.  WESTWOOD CONNECT DAY – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

The City of Los Angeles,  as well as state and other local community partners are planning the Westwood Connect Day on Wednesday, April 24th at the Westwood Recreation Center.

Connect Days are community events that bring service providers, community partners, governmental agencies, and dedicated volunteers together so that individuals experiencing homelessness can be connected to an array of services simultaneously.

At the Westwood Connect Day, there will be housing resources, legal assistance, medical services, hygiene kits, showers, haircuts, new clothes, and breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Volunteers are still needed! Opportunities include:

• Setting up the event
• Organizing and handing out donations
• Serving meals
• Assisting our guests in navigating through providers and services
• Working the check-in table, bag/bike check and volunteer table
• Handing out hygiene kits

8.  METRO PURPLE LINE EXTENSION – NEW VIDEO

The Purple Line Extension will extend the subway nine miles from Wilshire/Western Station to Westwood, mostly under Wilshire Boulevard. The project is being built in three sections with this video focusing on the first section between Wilshire/Western and Wilshire/La Cienega.

The Purple Line Extension is scheduled to open to Wilshire/La Cienega in 2023, to Century City in 2025 and to Westwood in 2027.

1.  TREE PLANTING EVENT – A SUCCESS!

Last Saturday, the Holmby Westwood Green Team and TreePeople volunteers and staff planted the 26th Parkway Tree in Little Holmby: 19 Coast Live Oaks (Quercus agrifolia) on Malcolm Avenue and 7 Olive Trees (Olea Europaea) on Manning.  Thank you to all HWPOA Board members and Holmby Westwood neighbors who came to help and support!

HWPOA made a donation to TreePeople in thanks for their extensive assistance over the past two years. Here is a copy of our letter to Tree People and recognition of our work from TreePeople’s Founder and President Andy Lipkis (click here).

4.  SEEKING NEW HWPOA BOARD MEMBERS

Join the Board of Directors of
Holmby Westwood Property Owners Association

The HWPOA Board is seeking Holmby Westwood residents to volunteer to serve as a Director for 1 year. We usually meet on the second Tuesday of every month except for August and December. We ask only that you be a financially current member of the Association for the past 2 years and have an interest in maintaining and improving the quality of life we have all come to know and enjoy.

You will work with many neighbors who serve on the Board, some who have served for many years. This is a way to help your community, to work with city officials and departments, to plan events, and to support the protections in place today.

The Holmby Westwood community is over 80 years old and preservation, livability, and schools are key to its residential value. Serving on our Board of Directors is a way to safeguard one of the largest investments you will make in your lifetime.

Our meetings are held at Belmont Village, Wilshire at Warner Ave., at 7:30 PM. Our committees include: Security, Parkway Tree Green Team, Traffic, Holmby Park, Architectural Supervising Committee, 4th of July event, Filming (in the neighborhood), WLAPD liaison and more.

5.  WESTWOOD LIBRARY POP-UP BOOK SALE

Don’t miss the Friends of the Library Pop-Up Book Sale this Saturday, April 6th, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Fully loaded carts of carefully curated books (including kids’ books and art books) will be for sale at the usual great prices! It’s a great way to increase your personal library while raising money for your public library.

Parking is validated.

6.  MOVIE PREMIERES – STREET CLOSURES

There are several premieres coming up in Westwood, which will involve various sidewalk and street closures around the area of Broxton Avenue between Weyburn Avenue and Le Conte Avenue:

20th Century Fox will be holding the premiere of “Breakthrough”, at 7:30 PM on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the Regency Village Theater, located at 961 Broxton Avenue in Westwood Village.

7.  CREST THEATER UPDATE

From CAP UCLA:

We are delighted to share that BAR Architects has been selected for the renovation of the landmark Crest Theatre which will be transformed into the UCLA Nimoy Theater, a new off-campus performing arts space that will be operated and managed by CAP UCLA.

The Purple Line Extension is making progress. This month we are hosting our first ever webinar to the public on Wednesday, April 24 from 12pm – 1pm.

9.  800 DEGREES PIZZERIA – GRAND RE-OPENING

800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen is relaunching its Westwood location with a new franchise operating partner after closing in October. It will remain at its original location on Lindbrook Drive in Westwood Village.

800 Degrees has changed its menu to offer options beyond pizzas such as salads, salmons and more woodfired items. It will also offer vegan options.

• Must be a high school junior or senior in Fall 2019, or a high school graduate starting first year of college in Fall 2019
• Must live in the City of Los Angeles
• Must attend high school either in the City of Los Angeles or in LAUSD
• Must be enrolled in advanced math & sciences classes and have completed Algebra II with a grade of B or higher
• Must be available to work Monday through Friday between 8am and 5pm for the duration of the program
• If selected, must provide proof of legal right to work and an Emergency Release Form
