1.  PARKWAY TREES – ARTICLE

Did you know that our parkways (the landscaped space between the street and the sidewalk) on every street in Holmby Westwood were originally planted with a different species of tree in order to create a “visual flow or rhythm” as one drives through the community?

The consistency of landscaping along our streets dramatically increases property values throughout the community. Do you know the species of tree planted in the parkways of your street? If not, please read the article “The Importance of Just the Right Parkway Tree” on our website holmbywestwoodpoa.org.

2.  BULKY ITEM DROP-OFF EVENT

Do you have an old mattress or bicycle that you no longer need?  On Saturday, April 16, 2016 as well as dates in May and June, LA Sanitation is offering free bulky item drop offs to help keep Los Angeles clean.

Bring your bulky items to the West L.A. District Yard at 2027 Stoner anytime between 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.  For more information, please click here.

3.  UCLA MEDICAL CENTER NEEDS VOLUNTEERS

The Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center is in need of volunteers.  The duties are interesting and vary as are the hours.  Volunteers perform vital tasks to help maintain the quality that makes Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center the #1 hospital west of the Mississippi and the #3 hospital in the nation.

Please contact Marvin Laba at (818) 761-7555.

4.  CALLING ALL ARCHITECTS

The Design Review Board for the Westwood Village Specific Plan area and all multi-family areas in the Westwood Community Plan area is in need of licensed architects.  Architects are appointed by Councilmember Koretz.  There are 7 members on the board (not all architects) who review development applications, signage, materials, and landscape.  Please contact Jasmine or Faisal at 323-866-1828 if you are interested.
