1. 2015 SPECIAL OLYMPICS WORLD GAMES
With 6,500 athletes and 2,000 coaches representing 165 countries, along with 30,000 volunteers and an anticipated 500,000 spectators, the 2015 Special Olympics World Games will be the largest sports and humanitarian event this year.

2. CHECK YOUR SPRINKLERS
Most of our sprinklers rightfully go on at night, so we don’t really know if there are issues. In this major drought, it is wise to ask your gardener or landscaper to take the time one day to momentarily run the sprinklers and make sure you are not needlessly watering hardscapes and sidewalks. If you walk on your grass, and it is wet even on off days, you’re probably watering too much. And please make sure you are conforming to the LADWP guidelines for watering.
3. USPS SURVEY
Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey regarding the local USPS issues. We have forwarded all survey responses to Congressman Ted Lieu’s office, which will be meeting with USPS representatives next week. We will let you know of any follow-up information when we receive it.
4. MAIL PACKAGE THEFT
A resident on Loring reported that he saw through his window that mail was delivered, including a couple of small packages to his front door. The next thing he knew, he saw a 10ish year old boy leaving the front of his house with those packages. The resident went outside and stopped him, at which point the boy’s “father” drove up in a grey SUV, gave an excuse about being on the phone and made his “son” apologize.
If you see this son/father trailing closely behind the mailman in a grey SUV, get the license plate number and call 911.
5. LIGHT FIXTURE THEFT
A resident in the area of Hilts/Lindbrook reported that seven of their outdoor landscaping light fixtures were recently stolen from their yard. The theft has been reported to the police.
