3.  DROUGHT-TOLERANT LANDSCAPING COMMITTEE

A number of residents have expressed concern regarding what to do with the grass on their parkways during the drought.  The topic was discussed earlier this week at the HWPOA Board meeting.

We would like to form a committee to research alternatives and to make recommendations regarding drought-tolerant landscaping. If you would like to join the committee, please contact Dana at
hwpoa@aol.com.

4.  4TH OF JULY PARADE AND PICNIC

Decorate your scooters and wagons, your kids and grandkids, and your homes, especially if you’re along the Loring/ Comstock parade route! Come ready to celebrate the holiday and the treasure of a neighborhood we live in together.

We will kick off at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 4th, at Warner School (on Loring and Holmby).

We welcome volunteers to help on event day; email hwpoa@aol.com if you’re interested.

5. SPECIAL OLYMPICS – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

As the event approaches, UCLA is recruiting more than 11,000 volunteers to assist with the proceedings. To help with the volunteer effort, visit www.la2015.org/volunteer/functional-areas.

More than 7,000 athletes from over 170 countries will compete. The Special Olympics Torch Run will stop by Westwood on July 23rd, and athletes are set to arrive on July 24th, with competitions taking place from July 25th through August 2nd. All competitions are open and free to the public.

COMPUTER/IT HELP

Every now and then we need help with our home computers. (e.g. maintenance, upgrades, slowdowns, replacement, connecting).  We don’t like to get passing students. Does anyone know of someone trustworthy who does this as his/her formal occupation?

Thanks,
