MAN SHOT IN BEVERLY GLEN HOME INVASION
A 43-year-old man was shot in a home-invasion robbery in the north Beverly Glen area early this morning, and police are searching for several suspects. The man was rushed to a hospital in critical condition after he was shot with a shotgun during the robbery in the 10300 block of Summer Holly Circle, said Los Angeles police Officer Liliana Preciado. Witnesses reported seeing several males fleeing the scene after the shooting. The robbery occurred about 3:15 a.m., Preciado said.
Police were seeking several males in connection with the crime. No descriptions were released of the suspects. Anyone with information about the case was urged to call (877) LAPD-247.

KNOCK KNOCK BURGLARIES CONTINUE
“Knock Knock” Burglars continue to target homes throughout the city. Watch as these burglars target a home by first knocking on the front door and then enter the rear of the home to break in. Residential Burglaries continue to be trending throughout the region and are the crime of choice amongst the criminal gang rings. If you have been paying any attention to the recent news, the same type of MO and crime is occurring across the region.
There are typically two areas that burglars will approach prior to breaking into a home. First, the front door to determine if anyone is home. Secondly, they will typically enter a side gate and yard to access the back to gain or force entry into the home.
As a result I am recommending motion sensor cameras that will immediately detect an intruder entering these zones and provide immediate notification on your smart phone. In other words, your first alert will be a suspicious individual approaching your front door. The second will be receiving an alert and images of intruders entering your side/rear yard. It is now time to call 911.
If an individual is able to access any critical parts of your property without immediate detection and notification to you, your property is vulnerable.

3. LEAF BLOWING ETIQUETTE
A homeowner reported seeing several gardeners blowing leaves from the parkway into the middle of the street without picking them up. Please remind your gardeners that leaf blowers should be used to clean up the leaves, not just to move the leaves off of your property.
In addition, we would like to remind you that gas powered leaf blowers are illegal. They can be very noisy and disruptive to other neighborhood residents. If you or your gardeners use gas powered leaf blowers, please refrain from using them. There are other options available, including a variety of electric leaf blowers. Thank you.
4. WARNER AVE. SCHOOL – 90th ANNIVERSARY
Warner Avenue School celebrates 90 years of educational excellence on May 6, 2017. We want all our families (past and present) to join us for a great event! The centerpiece of the day is a festival of hands-on science demonstrations and exhibits geared for everyone from grandparents to kindergartners. Reunite with old friends and see what’s happening at Warner today!
You need not pay a dime to join us May 6, but we could really use community support. Warner is establishing a technology fund to keep the education we offer relevant in the 21st Century. It’s a big undertaking, but with your help, we can do it! We all benefit when our neighborhood school is one of the best in L.A. – please help Warner stay that way. 6. FREE MULCH DELIVERY – L.A. SANITATION
From L.A. City Sanitation:
We have a new service to offer you – free mulch delivery! In addition to our 11 self-serve mulch locations around Los Angeles, we are now offering free delivery of either 2.5 or 5 yards of mulch. Restrictions do apply, and you must be home to accept delivery.

The green yard trimmings that LASAN collects go through a thorough cleaning, screening and grinding process and then is spread into piles. The piles are heated up to 120-140 degrees and frequently aerated by turning for 20 days. High temperatures, thorough turning, and composting all help to give microbes their best shot at pesticides to break them down into harmless chemicals during the composting process but there is no guarantee that all be eliminated. We lab analyze a sample once every 2 months and post the results on our website (link above). Mulch is not delivered until it is tested and has passed the US composting Council Seal of Testing Assurance.
