1.  PANCAKE BREAKFAST @ FIRE STATION #71 – THIS SUNDAY

Fire Station # 71 will hold is Annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Sunday, May 22 from 9:00 AM – Noon (at the corner of Sunset and Beverly Glen).  Breakfast is free but donations go for station improvements.  For more information, please CLICK HERE.

2.  REP. TED LIEU QUESTIONS POSTMASTER GENERAL

Dear Community Members,

Last week Congressman Lieu took our USPS problems directly to the Postmaster General of the United States, Megan Brennan, in a hearing on USPS reform held by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

Post Master General  Brennan has agreed to a meeting with the Congressman to discuss in depth the systemic USPS problems plaguing our area.  I will keep you informed.

4.  EXPO LINE GRAND OPENING

FREE RIDES THIS WEEKEND
As part of the celebrations for the opening of the Expo Line to Santa Monica on Friday, May 20, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) will offer free rides on Friday and Saturday and will hold station celebrations on Saturday, May 21.

The free rides will be on the entire Expo Line, from 7th St/Metro Center to Downtown Santa Monica. On Friday, free rides will begin at noon and will continue until the close of service. On Saturday, May 21, the free rides will start at 4:42 a.m. in Downtown Santa Monica and at 4:45 a.m. at 7th/Metro Center and will last until the end of service around 2 a.m.

Reserve a parking space today!  Be a part of Metro’s Parking Program.  To purchase a preferred monthly permit, visit LAMetroParking.net.

5.  WESTWOOD EVENT NOTICES

Our office has received notification of two upcoming events happening this Sunday, May 22, 2016.

Backstage at the Geffen Playhouse – On Sunday May 22 , 2016 Geffen Playhouse will hold their annual Backstage at Geffen Playhouse fundraiser.  This is the Geffen’s largest fundraiser of the year. The proceeded raised will support Geffen Playhouse’s artistic initiatives as well as Education Outreach programs, and other programs which brings live theater to more than 15,000 underserved community members each year.

Le Conte Ave in front of Geffen Playhouse will be closed to facilitate event.  The alley way loading zone will remain open. DOT and Private Security will provide officers for routing traffic and The Ralph’s parking lot on le Conte will not be obstructed.  Cars that may be attempting to enter East bound Le Conte Ave from Westwood Blvd will be re-routed with options to go to the Weyburn entrance or turn down Tiverton and enter the Le Conte lot westbound.

19th Annual Volkswagen City of Angels Fun Ride – 19th Annual City of Angels Fun Ride takes place on Sunday morning, May 22, 2016, starting and finishing on the UCLA campus at Dickson Plaza. This is a FUN ride NOT a race. There are NO hard street closures. The maximum impact on any intersection is maximum 7 minutes.

Westwood Kehilla Banquet Honoring Ted Lieu – On June 6, 2016, Westwood Kehilla synagogue, located in Westwood at 10523 Santa Monica Boulevard, is holding a dinner honoring Congressman Ted Lieu with its 2016 Community Visionary Award. Congressman Lieu represents the 33rd Congressional District, which encompasses most of Westwood and Holmby Hills.  Besides the Congressman, Consul General of Israel David Siegel, former Congressman Howard Berman, and former Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry will be participating in the program.  The dinner will be held at Sephardic Temple on Wilshire Boulevard.  A copy of the invitation and other relevant information can be accessed at the link below.
