2.  SEEKING NEW HWPOA BOARD MEMBERS

Join the Board of Directors
of
Holmby-Westwood Property Owners Association

The Board is seeking Holmby Westwood residents to volunteer to serve as a Director for 1 year. We meet on the second Tuesday of every month except for August and December. We ask only that you be a paid-up member of the Association and have an interest in maintaining and improving the quality of life as well as the historic and architectural integrity we have all come to know and enjoy.

Please, contact Dana Glenn, our Office Manager, and tell her that you want to join our Board.  Send an email to hwpoa@aol.com or call (310) 470-1785 to contact Dana. The deadline for submissions is April 10. We look forward to hearing from you!!

3.  MORE CAR BREAK-INS

We received two reports this week of car break-ins in the neighborhood.  On Strathmore, a BMW that was locked and parked on the street was broken into.  The thieves stole a $3,000 set of golf clubs.  The police were notified.  On Thayer near Lindbrook, a car was broken into and the perpetrator stole a wallet with cash, credit cards and the owner’s driver’s license.

4.  UCLA DOOR-TO-DOOR SURVEY

UCLA Students in “Grand Challenges Program” to Conduct Energy Conservation Survey in Surrounding Communities

UCLA undergraduate student researchers with the Sustainable LA Grand Challenges Initiative will be conducting a survey in the Holmby Westwood neighborhood to educate residents on energy conservation by promoting LED light bulb usage. Students wearing name tags and UCLA shirts may knock on your door during the months of April and May on Mondays through Wednesdays from 4-6PM to present their campaign. They may ask you to complete anonymous surveys so they can collect qualitative data to research behavior changes and test interventions. This is an opportunity to promote neighborhood sustainability, improve health, and save money.

Thank you, in advance, for your participation!

5.  L.A. ANIMAL SERVICES SEEKING INPUT

L.A. Animal Services is hosting fifteen strategic planning community meetings (one in each Council District) from March 2016 through May 2016. Community members do not have to be pet owners or animal lovers to attend a meeting.

All community members are encouraged to come share their thoughts and ideas on how we can help save the lives of more animals and better serve and protect our neighborhoods. All input gathered will be compiled to assist with the future priorities and goals of LA Animal Services. You can help make a difference in our City and for your City of L.A. Animal Services Department.

For CD 5 (our Council District), the community meeting is scheduled for:

Tuesday, April 19, 2016, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m .
Encino Community Center
4935 Balboa Blvd., Encino, CA 91316

There are a number of additional meetings scheduled around the city so if you can’t make the CD5 one, you are welcome to attend any of the others. More info and meeting schedule at: http://www.laanimalservices.com/community/

If you can’t attend any of the meetings, but still want to give input:  Complete a community survey today!
